Our Story.

In 1998 Terry sailed into Sutera Harbour Marina and met his beautiful bride-to-be, Rose. After a tumultuous courtship and a serious clash of cultures Terry, of course, capitulated and together in 2001 they built Sinurambi.

'Initially we built just one cottage to accommodate visiting friends and family but we soon started receiving more and more emails and phone calls from people around the world who had heard about the unique location and beauty of the house and wanted to come and stay.' Said Terry.

Twenty three years and one son later, Sinurambi has developed into a unique boutique style Bed and Breakfast with just five cottages in the grounds surrounding the house.

Rose and Terry look forward to welcoming you to share this remarkable home situated in the wilderness of Borneo yet only 20 kilometres from the sophistication of a thriving State Capital and International Airport.

The house is situated 1,400 feet above sea-level, adjacent to the Crocker Range National Park yet is only 21 kilometres from both the air port and city centre. The panoramic views span primeval rain forest, the South China Sea, the islands of the Marine Park and the the entire city of Kota Kinabalu spreads out below.

All rooms have a kitchenette and there is a comprehensively equipped outdoor kitchen adjacent the swimming pool. Guests are welcome to use the traditional wood pizza oven, gas Bar-B-Q, charcoal Bar-B-Q, electric convection oven, powerful gas hob, microwave oven and a myriad of cooking utensils. Guests are welcome to bring their own alcohol, food and soft drinks. There are balconies for small gatherings, sunset viewing or simply sun bathing.

We are semi retired couple who enjoy travelling and listening to other peoples life adventures. We love nature, motorsports, tennis and hiking. Our three cats and eight outdoors dogs own the house ;) We live within the property so we are here if you need us .

The Crocker Range in Inobong is the closest National Park to Kota Kinabalu City, our state capital. This park is a UNESCO site. Sinurambi B&B is only 300 meters from their entrance. There are walking trails within the park. Bird watching in this area is very popular. Hikers, joggers and cyclists regularly seen on our 6km uphill road. The Kinabatagan River and the famous Donggongon weekly Market is just 10km away.
